MBSR provides you with the tools and skills to begin your mindfulness journey. Starting right where you are, you will learn to cultivate a different relationship with the things that have challenged you in your life. So often we go through life on “autopilot”, mindfulness, however, enables you to respond to life with less stress and reactivity. Specifically, mindfulness helps you to be non-judgemental, accepting, compassionate, patient, present, and aware. The foundation of this program and mindfulness in general, is that there is more right with you than wrong with you.
The MBSR program was developed in the 1970s by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the Centre for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, as a means of alleviating the physical and psychological distress caused by chronic medical conditions. Many thousands of people around the world have participated in the program, which has been standardised, and the benefits of it have been extensively studied and researched.
